Sharing the LOVE Around the World

Ever heard of the saying, “Don’t look for love, let love find you?” Well in this case, you would have to look for love. Heck, I even encourage to go ahead and look for love in all the wrong places. No no, I am not talking about looking for love from a person. Love is literally scattered all around the world. Have I lost you yet?  Don’t worry, go ahead and wipe that confused look. I am talking about all the amazing LOVE sculptures all over the world.

LOVE is one of the most iconic pop art designed by Robert Indiana during the 1960s. Starting at a very young age, Indiana had taken interests in Art. After he served three years of U.S. Air Force, he studied at three different colleges to study Art which are Art at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Skowhegan School of Sculptures and Painting in Maine and Edinburgh college of Art in Scotland. It wasn’t until 1965 when his career sky-rocketed when Museum of Modern Art  featured his art of the LOVE image for their Christmas cards. Thus from there, it became popularly used for stamps, products and sculptures. An Interesting fact I had learned about Robert Indiana: He had lived in twenty three homes before the age of seventeen due to which is his mother’s wanderlust. Isn’t that amazing?

The original sculpture was established at Indianapolis Museum of Art in 1970. From there, many more sculptures started to pop up around the world. Down below are the list of all the sculptures by Robert Indiana that can be found around the world:

Some of these LOVE sculptures can be hard to find, so we should go look for it but then again, just maybe LOVE could end up finding us.

Have you seen any of Robert Indiana’s artwork? If so, where?

I didn’t even realize that these LOVE sculptures were around the world. Very cool! Love is universal! I was actually watching a Ted Talk not too long ago (I am a psychology and research geek in private) and the speaker’s research dealt with “how do we fall in love?”. I love this stuff!

    Thanks for sharing. xx

    1. deafinitelywanderlust

I’m also a Psychology geek, and that TedTalk platform you told me about sounds really interesting! I’ll check that out! 🙂

I’m sure that statue will still be there, waiting for you! 😉 I also had taken for granted for one statue during my travel and now wishing I took a picture with it! Alas, at least I’ll appreciate it more when I see one in the future 🙂
